Colorado State Thespian Conference, Dec. 2, 3, & 4, 2021
Over 3,500 of Colorado’s most dedicated high school theater students attend this conference at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, and over 70 colleges, conservatories, and universities offer more than a million dollars worth of college scholarships to students in attendance. Besides the university auditioning experience, students who attend train with the country’s leading professionals in acting, directing, play writing, and technical theater. The conference also affords students the opportunity to attend productions by high schools, professional theaters, and university theater programs.
As a workshop heavy, two-night field trip, we limit attendance to 15-18 of our most dedicated students and approach the conference as an intensive learning and bonding experience. The conference cost per student is $290 ($125 for conference registration, $165 for hotel) plus the cost of food (approximately 6 meals). Students will also need to provide their own transportation to and from the conference, via personal car, parent drop-off, or carpooling. Parking costs approx. $25-35 per day.
Applications will close on Oct. 15th, selections will be made by Oct. 29th, and payment will be due by Nov. 5th.
*** COVID Protocols & Guidelines *** Per current PSD guidelines: Overnight field trip rooms are limited to 2 students per room; Masks much be worn at the conference just as they would be at any PSD school or facility; Guidance will be updated as further recommendations are made by PSD, Larimer County Health, and the CDC.
*** Refund & Cancellation Info *** As COVID protocols change and evolve, there is a possibility that the conference itself or our trip approval with PSD could be cancelled. If ThesCon cancels the entire conference, they have only confirmed "partial refunds" and have not specified the amount. If PSD makes the decision to cancel our participation in the trip, but the conference goes on as planned, ThesCon will not issue any refunds. The deadline for conference registration is Nov. 10th, so we will hold off on submitting any funds or reservations until the latest possible date, in order to protect against these losses as best we can. Please know if you are selected to attend the conference, there is a possibility it could be cancelled, and there is also a chance you will not receive a refund.
